Intense Pulsed Light Technology

Using Intense Pulsed Light Technology and a specific wavelength, we are able to target the unwanted pigmentation on the skin. Targeting brown spots, redness and broken capillaries we can erase the signs of sun damage and time. A series of IPL treatments can greatly even out the skin and leave it looking more youthful and reduce the need for cosmetics.


The treatment feels like a snap or flick on the skin. We are able to treat the face, neck, chest, hands and wherever your have pigment concerns. This treatment is safe for skin types 1 - IV and has minimal to no downtime.

Treatment packages are customized based on the treatment concern, but commonly 3 – 5 treatments are recommended. It is best used in combination with a Medical Grade Skincare and a good SPF to maintain and protect your results.




What does treatment feel like and is it painful?

Treatment feels like a snap or flick on the skin. You may feel some warmth similar to a mild sunburn. The applicator has a cooling feature built in to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. More sensitive areas such as the upper lip may be less comfortable. Please let your Treatment Provider know how you are feeling and settings will be adjusted accordingly.

How long is each treatment?

Depending on the area of concern, treatments range from 15 – 30 minutes.

How many treatments are needed?

Depending on patient concerns, 3 – 5 treatments are recommended.

How often do I need to do treatments?

Treatments are done every 4 weeks.

When will I see results?

Results continue to improve after your last treatment. You will see optimal results 3 months post treatment. Depending on the pigmentation concern and how you take care of your skin at home following treatment will impact your results. Maintenance treatments are done as needed. We recommend maintenance treatments once every 3 months.

What results are expected?

We anticipate a smoother texture, more even skin tone and smaller pores.

Patients who have sun damage, redness or broken capillaries.

Is it safe for all skin types?

These treatments work best for light to medium skin tones. It can work on darker skin tones but there is a higher risk of discoloration as there is more pigment present.

Is there any downtime?

There is minimal to no downtime. You may see the pigmentation “pop” and look like coffee grounds on the skin. Wait for these to slough off naturally. With vascular treatments you can see some blanching, greying or darkening of the veins. This is normal and should resolve within 5 – 7 days. After the treatment your skin may be red and sensitive. It feels similar to a mild sunburn and can last anywhere from a few hours to a full day.

Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

You may apply sunscreen and make-up post treatment. Avoid the gym and hot showers for 2 days after your treatment. Use a gentle cleanser and non-irritating skincare. Avoid Retinols, AHAs and BHAs for 3 days prior and 3 days after treatment. Avoid tanning for 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after your treatment. It is important to apply sunscreen (SPF30 or higher) everyday to maintain results and avoid sun damage.


Patients should not be treated if they are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to become pregnant.
If patients are taking any medications that make them light sensitive, or if they have a disease that is stimulated by heat or light, that can be a contraindication.
Patients should wait to do treatment if they have had any surgeries in the area within 3 – 6 months, cosmetic injections within the last 2 weeks or recent chemical peels or resurfacing treatments.
